Human Body Systems Workshops: Overview
These workshops prepare you for critical work in the medical setting. When the health care provider, interpreter and client are a team, it works! Your judgment and analysis of each situation is vital to success.
To effectively interpret in the medical setting, the interpreter is not merely a “communication facilitator” or “telephone wire.” Successful interpreting requires knowledge to understand what is happening and why.
You will have many opportunities to observe specific medical “signs and vocabulary” throughout our workshops, but our focus is on gaining an invaluable foundation of knowledge needed to work in the medical arena. Expansion of knowledge always improves technical skills.
Information is provided according to each major body system. Topics include: Anatomy and Physiology (structure and function), specialized terms, health care provider specialties, medical equipment, tests and procedures, common medications, common conditions within each body system, and more!
